Daniel Gossmann (born 1984 in Eisenstadt, Austria) is an Austrian photographer with an international reputation in portrait, fashion, advertising, and reportage photography. After graduating from the Vienna School of Photography in 2010 and obtaining his master’s certificate in 2011, he founded his own studio, Daniel Gossmann Photography, in early 2012.

His breakthrough came the same year in Milan. He walked into a renowned agency without an appointment and happened to get a chance with a top agent. It was an opportunity he was determined to seize. Gossmann went on to work for leading modeling agencies such as Elite Models London, Women Management Milan, IMG Models, and Ford Models New York.

At the same time, he implemented spectacular projects early on. He brought back touching photographs from a trip to India and devoted himself to charitable causes. These photos culminated in his first major exhibition, “The Spirit of India” (2012). The proceeds went to an aid mission in India.

Since 2019, Gossmann has also been Sony’s European Imaging Ambassador. Gossmann represents the brand in the photography community. Today, his photographic work includes fashion shoots, advertising campaigns, portraits of celebrities, and event documentation. Always with a focus on the people in front of the camera.

Daniel Gossmann’s photographic style and technique

Gossmann’s photographic style is characterized by a clear, unmistakable signature and a cinematic, editorial look with high recognition value. He combines authentic, emotional snapshots with an iconic aesthetic. This is evident in both intimate portraits and elaborately staged advertising and editorial series.

His deliberate mix of warm and cool tones—warm light and deliberately cool shadows—is characteristic. It creates a natural yet sophisticated image impression. He consistently avoids exaggerated HDR effects or filters. This gives each shot a timeless, high-quality look. Gossmann takes great care to match the colors of the subject, the surroundings, and the light. He often uses complementary color combinations to enhance depth and expression. His aim is to bring out the personality of the subject while meeting the highest aesthetic standards. This is an approach he pursues particularly in international assignments for top clients, celebrities, athletes, and CEOs.

It is also important to him to create a trusting atmosphere during the shoot. “You never take a photo alone, but always together,” emphasizes Gossmann. He values honest communication and reliability in his dealings with his models and clients. This combination of technical precision and human sensitivity characterizes Gossmann’s photographic work.

Projects and exhibitions

In addition to commercial commissions, Gossmann realizes his own projects and participates in exhibitions. In 2012, he organized the charity photo exhibition “The Spirit of India,” which shed light on everyday life in India. All proceeds from this first major exhibition were donated to an Indian aid organization run by the Brothers of Mercy.

Another project close to his heart was the “Special Moments” series (2017). In it, Gossmann portrayed residents of a Caritas home for people with disabilities. Many participants were in front of a professional camera for the first time. The resulting sensitive images were exhibited publicly in Eisenstadt. The local press—from the Kronen Zeitung to the district media—reported extensively on this touching vernissage.

Gossmann also photographs high-profile events. As part of his “Inside the World of” series, he provides exclusive insights behind the scenes of events and personalities. For example, he photographed the rock band Wanda at a sold-out concert in Vienna’s Stadthalle. He documented the Life Ball charity event. And he captured the renowned Hahnenkamm races in Kitzbühel in pictures.

These projects demonstrate Gossmann’s ability to capture both the glamour of international events and the intimacy of human encounters. His photographs have been published in various media. For example, in 2019 he staged a photo shoot with the Austrian model Nadine Mirada in front of the Hollywood Sign in Los Angeles. This motif received a lot of attention in the Austrian press.

Gossmann’s pictures and career are regularly mentioned in newspapers, magazines, and online reports, bringing his work to the attention of a wide audience.

Clients, campaigns, and portraits

As a photographer for icons and brands, Gossmann works for a large number of well-known companies and institutions. His clients include international corporations and brands such as Audi, Austrian Airlines, Hugo Boss, Red Bull, Sony, Universal Music Group, and more. He has also photographed campaigns for major agencies and fashion houses. These include modeling agencies like Elite (London), Ford (New York), Wilhelmina (New York), and Marilyn (Paris). He has also photographed personalities from various fields for advertising campaigns and editorials.

Gossmann has had numerous celebrities in front of his lens – from Hollywood stars and musicians to sports legends. A selection of his portrait subjects reads like a who’s who. George Clooney, Adrien Brody, and Katie Holmes from the film industry. Musicians and entertainers such as Conchita Wurst, Kelly Osbourne, and Lindsay Lohan. Sports stars such as Formula 1 driver Mark Webber and Olympic ski champion Michaela Dorfmeister. Also Austrian celebrities such as comedian Gernot Kulis and TV star Barbara Wussow. Daniel Gossmann has photographed them all.

This variety of high-quality portraits underscores his reputation as a star photographer. He knows how to show a wide range of personalities in their best light. The media has accordingly dubbed him a “celebrity photographer.” Gossmann’s ability to photographically bring out both a company’s brand message and the individual character of a well-known subject makes him equally sought after by icons and brands.

Daniel Gossmann – Entrepreneurial Activities

Alongside his photography career, Daniel Gossmann is also a serial entrepreneur and investor.

Branding Identity – Creative Agency with a Focus on AI

In 2020, he founded the full-service advertising agency Branding Identity, based in Vienna. This agency offers classic marketing as well as innovative AI marketing services. It covers a wide range of areas from brand strategy, design, and social media to photo and video production. Gossmann is the founder and creative director here. Within a short period of time, he has acquired well-known international companies as clients.

The agency also bears Gossmann’s signature. For example, his own websites (including the Golden Elephant website) were designed and implemented by Branding Identity.

IDD Square & TOM Parking – Investments & Services

The next company was founded in 2022: Gossmann launched IDD Square GmbH. It is a company specializing in investments in brands, products, and services in the marketing environment. Under the umbrella of IDD Square, he develops and markets new business ideas. Some projects are implemented independently, others with partners.

One example is TOM Parking, a service company initiated by Gossmann for airport parking at Vienna International Airport. As the founder and owner of TOM Parking, he established a park and travel service. It is characterized by particularly high customer service.

In fact, TOM Parking is one of the few parking providers in Austria with a consistent 5-star rating. Over 300 Google reviews underline that. This is an indicator of the quality standards that Gossmann sets for his projects, even outside of photography.

In addition to specific services, Gossmann’s company IDD Square also invests in digital assets. The company holds several high-quality internet domains in the .ai domain (for “artificial intelligence”). These include aktien.ai, reisen.ai, and e-doctor.ai. They could potentially be used for future AI-based business models.

Golden Elephant Weddings – Exclusive Wedding Photography

Another of Gossmann’s business activities is wedding photography. Under the Golden Elephant Weddings brand, he offers exclusive photo and video services for weddings. Golden Elephant was founded by Gossmann and built up as a separate team. The goal: to provide his bridal couples with the highest level of service.

Although Daniel Gossmann travels extensively as an internationally booked photographer, he only accepts a limited number of wedding assignments per year. This allows him to devote his full attention to each couple. Stylistically, he combines his reportage approach with the ability to capture genuine emotions. For him, wedding photography is a “vocation” and not just a job.

Golden Elephant operates throughout Austria, with locations in Burgenland, Styria, and Vienna, among others. The brand enjoys a reputation for timeless wedding reportage. The proximity to his own photographic signature and the independent brand identity of Golden Elephant show something clearly. Gossmann transfers his creative skills to different business areas.

Combining photography and business strategy

Gossmann’s entrepreneurial activities are closely linked to his photographic expertise. His mission is to develop sustainable business models and position people and brands through high-quality imagery and innovative technologies. This is particularly reflected in Branding Identity, where he creates holistic brand identities for clients, combining the power of first-class visual content—photography, video, design—with strategic marketing.

Brand strategy through visual excellence

He also relies on synergies between creativity and business acumen in his other ventures: his start-ups benefit from his sense of aesthetics, quality awareness, and international network. Gossmann himself describes success orientation, determination, sustainability, a hands-on mentality, and loyalty as the core values of his enterprises. These values also stem from his approach to photography, where reliability and perfection are crucial.

Synergies between creativity and entrepreneurship

In interviews, he emphasizes that sustainable success is “no coincidence,” but rather the result of clear goal setting and hard work. He manages his companies strategically: Gossmann operates internationally and with an eye to the future, does not shy away from using new technologies (such as AI in marketing), and uses his brand as a photographer to build trust with business partners. His dual role as a creative artist and entrepreneur gives him a unique selling point: he understands both the artistic side of brand staging and the business necessities. This interplay of photographic skill and entrepreneurial spirit shapes Gossmann’s career in a unique way.

In the interview, he described how he courageously acquired his first major assignment in Milan. He explained why trust is more important to him than technology when working with celebrities.

This and similar interviews provide insight into Gossmann’s philosophy and personal brand. He also appears as a speaker and mentor. Gossmann occasionally holds workshops and lectures. In them, he passes on his knowledge to young photographers.

His motto here is: Success obliges us to share our experience. This is an attitude that he also communicates publicly. Overall, Daniel Gossmann cultivates a conscious media presence. He uses it to sharpen his profile as a creative professional and visionary entrepreneur.

Social media and strategic public image

On social media, Gossmann presents himself as a modern content creator with business acumen. On Instagram (account @danielgossmann), he confidently describes himself as a “photographer & serial entrepreneur.” He also calls himself a Sony Europe Ambassador. In doing so, he deliberately emphasizes his dual identity. He uses the platform to showcase his portfolio to a global audience. His posts feature glossy campaigns, behind-the-scenes insights, and personal successes. His Instagram photos and stories paint a consistent picture of his brand. It is high-quality, international, and close to people. Gossmann also cultivates his public image on Facebook and LinkedIn, where he networks with industry contacts. He publishes videos and making-ofs on his own YouTube channel. That includes formats such as “Daniel Gossmann Photography TV.”

This multi-channel presence allows him to reach both potential customers and fans of his work. Gossmann’s strategic public image aims to position him as an expert in visual branding. And as a success-oriented entrepreneur. At the same time, his image remains authentic. He often emphasizes his down-to-earth roots. He grew up in a small town in Burgenland. And the passion that drives him. He also conveys professionalism and reliability (“handshake quality”) via social media. For example, by sharing customer references or highlighting consistent 5-star reviews of his services.

This deliberately managed personal brand contributes to his business goals. Building trust, maintaining his network, and increasing his profile. By openly showcasing his roles as a photographer and entrepreneur, he gains recognition. He seamlessly combines both worlds. Daniel Gossmann has succeeded in establishing himself in the public eye as a versatile brand. He is a creative visionary with entrepreneurial instincts. These instincts extend far beyond the camera lens.
